There are many clubs operating here at WJPS, but with seniors graduating there’s a concern that some clubs may end due to the loss of members.
Clubs having to endure the reduction isn’t the only issue, but also the lack of representation WJPS gives to its current and future clubs.
Many students would benefit from clubs and the community bonding they allow students to have.
WJPS 12th grade student, Anika Narula said, “I think clubs are a beneficial way for students to interact with one another. It benefits teachers with their work. Seniors should try to influence other younger students to join clubs to continue what they enjoyed for the younger students.”
WJPS teacher, Ms Koza said, “I feel like there’s a lot of misconceptions about my club. People aren’t aware of the clubs available even though we had a club fair this year. The club fair didn’t get a lot of students to join. I know there’s a different plan for the club fair for next year.”
A solution to the reduction of club members and representation could be to change the structure of the club fair and let the current club representatives present their club for each grade.
Each club representative would have five minutes to get their club’s objective across the school in one to two periods, depending on how many clubs are present.
