Fans across the league will have the chance to watch their team start the 162-game regular season this week.
Fans are able to enter ballparks all over the country as traditions such as first pitches, flyovers during the national anthem, and player introductions help to signal the beginning of the 2026 season.
The opening night game on March 25th features the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants.
WJPS eighth grader Chris Skokos stated, “Yes, this is going to be a good season, hopefully the Yankees win it all.”
This game will also be the start of a new era in baseball broadcasting as Netflix ventures into live sports with its inaugural regularly scheduled game.
WJPS eighth grader Emanuel Lopez stated, “Hopefully this season will be more exciting than the last.”
After the first game, the rest of the league will begin play on Thursday and Friday.
The Los Angeles Dodgers return as the defending World Series champions.
Every team starts the year “at zero” with all the same hopes and ambitions of making it to the postseason and, possibly, to the World Series in October.
