With the New York Knicks holding high expectations last season, things didn’t quite turn out the way they wanted too. Injury, trades, a new personnel and a different culture mentally affected the team throughout the whole season.
In addition to Phil Jackson bringing in key role players such as Robin Lopez, Arron Afflalo, former #2 overall pick Derrick Williams, New york,Queens residents Kyle O’Quinn and Kristaps Porzingis, Jackson believes that the Knicks can exceed people’s expectations this upcoming season. Although Carmelo Anthony who hoped in getting a star-caliber player this summer, believes that with the key pieces they acquired they can help bring a winning culture back to New York.
When asked about the 27-win prediction for the upcoming season, according ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight, Anthony laughed it off. “If people are predicting 27 wins, I laugh at that,” Anthony said after practice on Tuesday. “We use that as kind of motivation. It’s a good thing to kind of be under the radar. I know what type of team we have. It’s just a matter of going out there and putting it together. … I think we’ll be better than people predict.”
“I think the Knicks have a great shot into exceeding everyone’s expectations, but it is still too early to determine that,” junior Norman Carmona said.
