Donald John Trump is currently leading the 2016 presidential nomination for the Republican party compared to the other candidates. According to the post GOP debate poll, Trump’s lead increases even further and continues to dominate the other candidates.
Trump has a lot planned for what he wants to achieve if he becomes president; including the immigration reform, in which he plans to build a wall across the southern border of the U.S., and protecting the citizens of their Second Amendment rights.
Trump is against banning guns in America and states “Gun and magazine bans are a total failure. That’s been proven every time it’s been tried.” Trump is trying to prevent the restriction of firearms used for self defense, as he believes it is the right of US citizens to own weapons. “Here’s another important way to fight crime – empower law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves. Law enforcement is great, they do a tremendous job, but they can’t be everywhere all of the time.” Trump wants to give gun owners the ability to defend themselves if the time calls for it, as the law enforcement cannot be there for everyone all the time.
Another approach that Trump has to defend gun rights is fixing our mental health system. Helping those with violent mental issues can get them off the streets and prevent others from being hurt. This matters because anti-gun politicians use this as an argument.
“Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first.” Unemployment is high in America and Trump seeks to aid this issue through his immigration reform. Although some would disagree with this Immigration reform, Trump raises a few points in defending his statements. “The influx of foreign workers holds down salaries, keeps unemployment high, and makes it difficult for poor and working class Americans.” Trump plans to build a wall across the southern border to prevent illegal aliens from entering the country. Demanding that Mexico pays for the wall because of the damage their citizens have done to the United states, “The costs for the United States have been extraordinary: U.S. taxpayers have been asked to pick up hundreds of billions in healthcare costs, housing costs, education costs, welfare costs, etc.”
The most common way for illegal immigrants to get into America is through birthright citizenship, in which citizenship is given to the children of illegal immigrants, and all people born within the United States of America. Trump believes this is not a good policy and wants to end birthright citizenship. In Trump’s eyes, this immigration reform will help make America great again.
As of September 29th, Trump is leading with a national score of 23.4, 6.4 points over Carson. If Trump keeps up this hot streak he could win the Republican presidential nomination. For the time being, Trump can keep if not extend his lead over all the other candidates.
