A brand new movie set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender (or ATLA) world was set to be released in October 2026, however, fans have already managed to get their hands on the full film through a leak on X– formerly known as Twitter– which spread the movie far and wide.
ATLA is a childhood TV show originally released in 2005. The show ran for three seasons before it ended in 2008, following that a spin-off was created focusing on a brand new set of cast members of the next generation.
In the new movie, fans would be reunited with the original cast in 2005, this time in the future where they’re older.
WJPS 12th grader Kevin Gao said, “I find it funny that the movie was leaked, but I’m also a little sad that it probably won’t have a huge theatrical release and the animation studio might lose a lot of money which can ruin future projects.”
WJPS 12th grader Giselle Nuñez said, “I want to wait for the release, but seeing all the buzz online about the movie is making me want to see it more and more.”
No official confirmation if the movie will still be getting a theatrical release, however season two of the live-action ATLA will be releasing in June.
