Goodreads recently announced the winners of the 2025 Choice Awards.
Goodreads is an app used by readers to rate and review books that they’ve read, connect with people and even win books.
Over the last 17 years Goodreads has taken a poll where readers can pick their favorite book in each genre and can see which book has been picked the favorite.
My Friends by Fredick Bakman won the category of favorite fiction book of 2025.
Holly Jackson’s book Not Quite Dead Yet won favorite mystery and thriller.
Great Big Beautiful Romance by Emily Henry won favorite romance. This is the fourth consecutive year that Henry has won in the romance category.
Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab won favorite fantasy book of the year.
Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix won Goodreads favorite fiction.
Favorite science fiction book of the year went to Aisling Rawle’s book The Compound.
Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros won favorite romantasy as well as favorite audiobook.
WJPS 12th grader Markella Georgiou stated, “So far I’ve read Great Big Beautiful romance and Witchcraft and I enjoyed reading them. I haven’t heard of the others, but I’d definitely look into them.”
WJPS 12th grader Joseph Weir stated, “This year I read Great Big Beautiful, which was one of my favorite books that I read this year. The romance is fantastic and the main character went through a beautiful character arc.”
