On December 19th Lionsgate Studio is releasing a new movie adapted from the book of the same title called The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.

The Housemaid is a three book series with the other books in the series being titled The Housemaid´s Secret and The Housemaid is Watching.

The cast for the adaptation is Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar, and Michele Morrone.

Sydney Sweeney has worked on projects like Euphoria, Anyone But You, The Voyeurs, Immaculate, Madame Web, and the Handmaids Tail.

Amanda Seyfried has been in Mamma Mia One and Two, Mean Girls, Jennifer’s Body, In Time, Letters to Juliet, and Chloe.

The first book in the series came out in 2022, the second book came out the following year, and the last book was published in 2024.

Freida McFadden has multiple other books including Never Lie, The Inmate, The Teacher, The Boyfriend, The Locked Door, and The Coworker.

The Housemaid series has won several awards among the book community. It won the International Thriller Writers Award in 2023. In the same year, The Housemaid’s Secret won the GoodReads Choice Award for Best Mystery and Thriller.

WJPS 12th grader Dayana Marquez stated, “I am very excited for The Housemaid by Freida McFadden to drop and excited to read it after.”

WJPS 12th grader Johanne Castrejon stated, “I really liked this book and I am so excited to go and see it.”
