Professional basketball player Kobe Bryant announced his plans to retire after the 2015-2016 NBA season. Bryant has played with the Los Angeles Lakers his entire career.
Throughout his career Bryant has won 5 NBA championships with the Lakers, he has been part of the NBA all star team 14 times and was a member of the All-NBA team 11 times.
Bryant announced his retirement on November 29th through an ode to basketball called, Dear Basketball, that was released by theplayerstribune.com
Students share their opinions on how they feel about Bryant retiring from the NBA and how they feel it will affect the Lakers.
“I’m not really a Lakers fan but he (Bryant) has changed the game since he joined the league. They already started building their team for when he leaves. He’s a Veteran and without him being there on the team it’s going to affect them dramatically. They lost their star player,” junior Andrew Deonarine said.
“I feel sad because he was a great player, I grew up watching him but don’t the Lakers suck anyway?I heard they’re not doing well, having Kobe leave won’t make them better,” senior Jonah Sampedro said.
“He (Bryant) is an inspiration. He is a G.O.A.T. He retired because of his age, age was getting to him. His body doesn’t move like it used to. He can’t compete with the youngsters. The Lakers are losing the face of the team,” sophomore Antonio Adams said.
