Schools from across the five boroughs were invited to Citi Field for a college fair.

The event was hosted by the City University of New York (CUNY) on April 23rd to give students the chance to learn various statistics regarding the colleges, and get brochures, pamphlets, etc. from other universities at the stands they set up.

Upon entry to the stadium, the guest groups organized and headed to left field where they received a presentation from the Director of CUNY Admissions, Richard Alvarez, and other admission counselors. They were accompanied by selected CUNY students, who each gave their own small piece on the school, what it offered, and what it offered specifically to them.

“I thought the students represented the school well. I believe they were a good representation of a college graduate,” College Guidance Counselor Mr. Lumetta said.

Participating venues were Princeton Review and Cortland University, who offered information at their respective stands. They could be accessed following the end of the presentation.

“There was not a lot of colleges that interested me and it was very crowded,” junior Alyssa Kang said.

Each student had access to a meal of either a hamburger, hot dog, or slice of pizza from partaking vendors, a drink of their choice, and either an order of fries or a pretzel. These could be accessed with the exchange of a voucher provided to students before they got on the buses and headed to the stadium.

Following the presentation, students were free to use their vouchers as they wished, and enjoy the game.
