On May 1st The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released into theaters after 20 since the first movie came out in 2006.

The main cast is returning for the sequel including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.

Meryl Streep has worked on multiple projects like Death Becomes Her, Mamma Mia, Julie and Julia, It’s Complicated, Out of Africa, Kramer vs Kramer.

Anna Hathaway is known for her work in The Princess Diaries, The Idea of You, Love and Other Drugs, Interstellar, The Intern, Ella Enchanted, and Bride Wars.

The sequel is about Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly as she faces problems in her business because of a lack of physical media and a new competitor. As a result of her declining business she hires back her old assistant Andrea, played by Hathaway.

The movie is based on a book written by Lauren Weisberger and is heavily based on her work experiences. Many believe that the character Streep plays is based on Anna Wintour who was the editor and chief of Vogue.

The original director David Frankel is coming back for the sequel as well. He has also directed movies like Collateral Beauty, Merely and Me, and Hope Springs.

WJPS 12th grader Eleni Tsiakas stated, “I saw the first movie a few years ago and really enjoyed it and I plan to see the sequel when it comes out.”

WJPS 12th grader Giselle Nunez stated, “I can wait to see this movie, I never thought that they’d ever come out with a sequel so I’m very excited to see it.”
