Released as a meta-reboot of the original 1997 film, “Anaconda” is a movie about a group of friends venturing into the jungle, in hopes of creating an indie remake of their favorite flick.
What the group doesn’t know is that they are fated to have the same destiny as those in the film.
When one of their staff accidentally kills the snake they were supposed to use, the group sends their snake handler further into the jungle to find a replacement. Instead, he finds a giant, bloodthirsty anaconda.
WJPS 12th grader Giselle Nunezremarked, “I think it’s an interesting concept to have the original movie referenced in the film. Especially since it drives the characters to go to the jungle in hopes of filming a low-budget version, leading them into the same situation as the movie. It reminds me of how the “Scream” franchise used the “Stab” movies to serve as inspiration for the sequels.”
WJPS 11th grader Evdoksia Livaditis added, “It seems like an intriguing movie. At first I had no intention of watching it, as it didn’t seem noteworthy, but after seeing the trailer I changed my mind.”
Anaconda is now streaming on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Youtube. The price ranges from $10 to $25 depending on the service.
