After winning 94 games during the regular season and losing in the American League Division Series in four games to the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees are in the midst of the 2025-2026 offseason.
So far, the Yankees have not made any moves this offseason, but they could start by re-signing some of their free agents.
Some notable names they could look to re-sign include first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, outfielder Trent Grisham, outfielder and first baseman Cody Bellinger, infielder Amed Rosario, pitcher Luke Weaver, and pitcher Devin Williams.
One player expected to return to the Yankees’ pitching rotation sometime next year is pitcher Gerrit Cole, who missed the entire 2025 MLB season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March of this year.
WJPS 11th grader Max Sanz said, “I can’t wait to get Gerrit Cole back, especially after how our pitchers performed these past playoffs.”
WJPS 11th grader Simon Ospina said, “Kyle Tucker would be a great addition to the lineup, especially since we might lose Cody Bellinger and/or Trent Grisham this off-season.”
