MetLife Stadium has become one of the most recognizable stadiums in the eyes of sports fans across the world for being the only NFL stadium that hosts two teams, as both the New York Giants and New York Jets claim it as their own home stadium.
MetLIfe has used artificial turf since it first opened in 2010, which has caused countless injuries to several star players and has negatively impacted the league as a whole, as these injuries affected the players production significantly, sometimes permanently making the players never the same again.
Some of the most notable names in the NFL including Aaron Rodgers and Nick Bosa have suffered major injuries because of the turf. Most recently Malik Nabers was seen screaming in pain this season as he suffered a torn ACL, ending his year.
It is clear that the turf needs to be changed as soon as possible. The stadium needs to switch to a natural grass turf to minimize the amount of injuries that happen.
WJPS 12th grader Dylan Vigilarolo said, “The MetLife turf has become notorious because of the damage it’s caused and I don’t understand why it hasn’t been fixed yet.”
WJPS 12th grader Alan Garcia said, “It’s annoying and sad seeing players getting hurt as frequently as it happens. Clearly this turf is not safe for the game.”
