With the NBA All-Star game having passed, teams are starting to head to the end of the season. Barring injuries, the Knicks’ roster, as it is, will be the one entering the playoffs this month.
However, there are some glaring problems with the way the roster is built which has been exposed in recent games.
The Knicks’ defense is lacking. The result of this is double-digit losses to the Celtics, Cavaliers, and Lakers; some of the best teams in the league. These losses unfortunately may show that the Knicks will struggle heavily against teams of equal calibre.
WJPS 12th grader Jane Castrejon said, “The Knicks have shown that they can win when it’s the last couple of minutes. They will face this situation in the postseason so they can win there.”
The Knicks showed their aggressive willingness to win when they traded Julius Randle for Karl Anthony-Towns during the last offseason. Despite two players, Towns and Jalen Brunson, both being All-Stars, they are not superstars on the defensive end.
WJPS 12th grader Preston Ng said, “The Knicks have some good players, but they lost really badly to the Celtics. They can’t beat the Celtics when it’s the playoffs.”
