The Outsiders is a story about a 14-year-old boy named Ponyboy Curtis, the gang that he’s in called the Greasers, and how they live among their rivals, the Socs.
The musical won four Tony Awards in 2024: it won Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Light Design of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical.
The New York Stage Review said, “The show appeals on so many levels. If the catchy songs, dynamite choreography, and heartfelt sentiment don’t grab you… …young men displaying gobs of talent should do the trick.”
WJPS teacher Mr. Gardner said, “I would be interested to see it. I like the book and it would be nice to see.”
WJPS 11th grader Joseph Weir said, “I really liked the music and how they used sound cues and special effects to signify important character moments.”
