The Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade will take place Thursday, November 28th.
The first parade was celebrated in 1924, the parade was run by the employees who marched down 34th street dressed in costumes. And in 1927, is when they first began using the giant balloons in the parade.
Some of the new balloon additions for the 2024 parade are Disney’s Minnie Mouse, and Paw Patrol’s Marshall. The parade balloons can be seen on Macys.com.
WJPS 11th grader Eleftheria Karam stated, “I like seeing the balloons and hearing all the kids shouting and pointing out their favorite characters.”
For those who wish to see the parade in person, it will begin on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and will end at Macy’s in Herald Square on 34th street.
Those who wish to see the parade from their homes, they can watch it live on Thanksgiving day at 8:30 am on NBC and Peacock.
WJPS 11th grader Eleni Melissinos stated, “I think the parade is a nice way to celebrate the holiday even if you can’t see it in person.”
