After officially getting released on October 27th by A24 studios, the movie ‘Priscilla’ has had a mixed reception since its release. It has an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes for the critic score and a 7.1/10 on IMDB.
The movie doesn’t offer anything special or anything that isn’t already shown. The movie had its own strengths and weaknesses that left space for mixed reviews from the media.
This movie was about Priscilla and Elvis Presly’s’ love story, which was already famous in itself. So it was expected that there should have been this certain uniqueness to the film along with a deeper perspective.
The movie was great visually and cinematically. It was good at capturing the retro aesthetic however the pacing of the entire movie might have been a bit slower than anticipated. There are also certain aspects of the film that could have been discovered more, and should have been more included in the story.
WJPS 11th grader, Ella Anayatian, said, “I haven’t seen the movie, however I think it’ll do well because of how people think that the movie’s Elvis will be portrayed better. Compared to the ‘Elvis’ biopic that was released last year.“
WJPS 12th grader, Sophia Turner, said, “I think that the movie will turn out well because I have heard of the director and like his work.”
