World Journalism Preparatory School does not provide organized athletic activities during recess. Although students are told to go outside, they are not provided with the equipment to play sports outside.
Students who want to play sports like volleyball, basketball, football and more are forced to bring their own ball if they are interested in playing.
WJPS junior Owen Wasiak said, “I used to wake up every morning and think about going to recess and playing basketball with the boys, but now we can’t do that without the equipment. I just think it’s very unfair.”
Another WJPS junior, Jacob Geraghty stated, “WJPS used to provide the equipment we needed for recess sports, but now if we don’t bring our own equipment we can’t play. I don’t support that because it’s hard to bring a ball everyday, especially ones that can’t fit in my bag.”
Although this is not the biggest issue in our school, it is still something that can be fixed for the students of WJPS interested in outdoor recess activities.
