If you want to experience US history while seeing it come to life, go to Washington D.C.

Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America, is the home of many historical sites, like the memorial sites for Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Other memorials that people can see are the Vietnam Veterans, the George Washington Monument, and the Korean War Veterans.

Tourists can also see the White House, the home of our US current and former Presidents.

There are also a lot of museums that tourists can go to.  Due to COVID-19, there are restrictions on the museum’s capacity. People have to buy tickets in advance to go see the museums.

People interested in Earth’s natural history can go to the Museum of Natural History. There are many exhibits on Earth’s history from different cultures and fun activities for children and adults.

The Museum of Asian Arts is also a good museum attraction in Washington D.C.. The Asian Arts Museum holds exhibits that teach tourists about the history of Asian culture.

Ms. Paplow, a guidance counselor at WJPS, said, “My favorite attraction in Washington D.C. is the Air and Space Museum. I find the museum fascinating.”

People interested in science can go to the Air and Space museum once it reopens after renovations.

People who enjoy sightseeing can take a water taxi over the river. The water taxi goes to Georgetown, one of Washington D.C.’s oldest and most upscale neighborhoods, and also passes the monuments and memorials on the way to Georgetown.

WJPS senior, Ashinda Fowler, said,  “I would look at the George Washington statue.”
