Lunch Line Chaos

Lunch+Line+Chaos

It’s a race against the clock as WJPS high school students rush to be the first in line during high school lunch sixth period.

There are times where the lines become very disorganized depending on the lunch being served. Popular foods like burgers, French fries, mozzarella sticks, and pizza are the usual reason these lines are very chaotic.

“The lines are not quick and efficient, they can stop sending people to get lunches by grade level because food is being served slowly to students,” stated WJPS junior, Giovanni Duran.

Recently there have been WJPS staff members managing the line so it doesn’t become as chaotic.

Now there are exceptions to rules such as students with lunch detention who receive their food first, with seniors following, then other grades being called up to the lunch line.

“I don’t think they’re efficient, you could just walk up to the line even if your grade wasn’t called and no one tries to stop you and there is no way for them to improve the lunch lines since there are a lot of students and it’s hard for about four people to keep track of them all,” added Luca Vivar, another WJPS junior.

One way of fixing this is resorting back to the original system which was having two grades outside the school yard and two grades inside eating, splitting the lunch period into two.
