Can Children Be Held Morally Responsible For Their Actions?

From a young age, many adults would strive to teach their children values, responsibility, respect, and morals.

Parents should be leaders for their children. They are supposed to teach them consequences and how life works.

If parents don’t teach well, their children might ignore them. However, it is up to the parents to correct their mistakes.

I believe that children are a reflection of a parent’s behavior, whether or not they represent good behavior or bad ones.

If the parents are teaching them values and the child still remains to be rebel, then they should be held accountable rather than the parents.

However, If parents are building up a household with bad parenting roles, then the parents are held responsible for the outcome of their child’s mistakes and behavior.

“They should be held accountable. It’s not fair that adults would get punished, but not the children. The excuse “they’re young and don’t know any better” isn’t good enough,” said WJPS junior,  Sarah Hussain.

“Absolutely. Usually the parents are but it depends on how old they are. If they are just a kid then I guess it’s okay,” said Cameron Gutman, WJPS senior.
