It seems almost everyone likes ice cream. Some people think ice cream is an all-American treat but ice cream was actually created in Shang, China. It’s no surprise then that there is a popular NYC ice cream shop in Chinatown called The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (CICF).
According to the The Chinatown Ice Cream Factory website, CICF makes delicious ice cream because, “ice cream making is in our genes.” Ice cream’s Chinese beginnings can be tasted in flavors like black sesame, green tea, and Lychee.
No matter where ice cream comes from, it is very popular all over the world. Some even say it’s an addiction.
“I have a bad addiction to ice cream,’’ freshman Clarence Saunders said. “I eat it almost every other day.”
Saunder’s favorite flavor is Cookies and Cream, and he is not alone. Cookies and Cream was named the #1 ice cream flavor of 2014 according to Baskin Robbins newsroom article “in Celebration of National Ice Cream Month, Baskin Robbins reveals the top 10 Ice Cream Flavors that Make People the Happiest.”
Coming in 3rd on Baskin Robbins’ Top 10 list is vanilla.
“Vanilla Bean is my favorite. It makes me feel happy because it’s nice and sweet and everyone can enjoy it,” freshman Aishah Jaberi said.
