For the second time this school year, WJPS has brought back stricter rules for the third floor high school bathrooms during passing periods and class time.
According to Ms. McCloskey, the policy returned because students were spending too much time in the restrooms and gathering there during class.
Under the new rules, only one student is allowed in the bathroom at a time. If the third floor bathrooms are closed, students must use the middle school bathrooms on the second floor instead.
Bathroom monitors are also using sign-in sheets to keep track of who goes in and out of the restrooms.
WJPS 10th grader Jake Yannacopoulos stated, “I don’t think this policy has really changed anything.”
The second floor bathrooms became more crowded because the high school bathrooms are closed for a limited time.
WJPS 12th grader Panagiota Sfeliniotis stated, “It slows everything down, especially when there’s a long line.”
The only bathroom available on the third floor is the gender neutral bathroom, but the students have to ask for the key in the main office.
