Recently, a masked killer has been murdering several homeless people in the alleys of both New York and Washington DC. Police are still on the hunt for the killer, offering a $35,000 reward in total for their capture.
NYPD Chief Hank Sautner explained that one of the victims who were shot woke up and asked what the killer was doing. The killer then fled, and the victim died shortly after.
In order to end the situation, New York City Mayor Eric Adams decided to remove people who sheltered in the subways where the killer often struck.
WJPS teacher, Ms. Kim stated, “Ideally, it would be a good idea to remove them from the subways, but, in the real world, there is always a shortage of shelter. A more preferable solution would be to have the government make a recovery program for homeless people, plus more shelters, so they don’t live in danger.”
WJPS teacher, Ms. Katz denoted, “That is a tough call, and Mayor Adams was doing the best he could on a short timeline.”
