The fourth annual Youth Empowerment Conference (YEC) was held at Queens College April 24th.

The conference was a full-day event dedicated to empowering students by providing opportunities to thrive and succeed. 

YEC invited students between the ages of 12-18 who go to high schools in Northern Queens.

WJPS 11th grader Marina Melissinos said, “[It’s] a place to form connections with schools and to look at opportunities for my future. I look forward to the stands and to learn from the events.”

Queens North District Superintendent Dr. Tu said, “What I love is to see students taking responsibility and taking a space of advocating for what they want. YEC is designed by students.”
