This is the third annual Thanksgiving feast after COVID at WJPS. However, this is the 17th year WJPS has continued the tradition.
Students contributed a cultural dish, whether it was an entrée or dessert, serving at least four people per dish. There was the option to bring in food, drinks, or tableware.
Students brought their dishes and supplies to the auditorium before period one. Then, each class was called by grade throughout the day to enjoy the feast.
The auditorium had decorations, flags, and music. Each table served dishes representing different countries.
Towards the last periods of the day, alumni were walking around the school and also participated in the feast.
WJPS 12th grader Leonard Brosnan said, “I’ve been volunteering at the feast for a few years now, and I always look forward to it. It’s a lot of fun eating and being with friends all day, and it’s a great opportunity to share our cultures with people we care about.”
WJPS 11th grader Natalie Derosa said, “I like the WJPS feast because it’s an opportunity for all grades to get together and have an overall great time. I have so many memories from feasts in the past, and it’s always so much fun.”
