The Adrian Block campus where WJPS is located has been running numerous tests on the public address system (PA) to make sure it is in working order.
According to the New York City Department of Education, PA systems are used to alert school communities of any alerts such as evacuations and lockdowns.
These PA tests are quick announcements or instructions for IS25 and WJPS, but some feel they are a distraction.
WJPS 11th grader Nicholas Flanagan said, “It stops the teachers because they have to listen to it.”
According to Mr. Yarmy, assistant principal at WJPS, “Ms Nadler from IS25 and our technician Mujib are running the tests. They will continue to do tests until all the rooms are functional.” He also said “We are making much progress, but since this is such a vital safety issue, they must get it right.”
