WJPS introduced a new Spanish and journalism teacher, Ms. Baldo this year. She teaches 9th and 11th graders in rooms 357 and 359.
Baldo said, “I want to provide students with experience, open minds, and bring them together. I have a passion for journalism, and I would like to see students have the same passion, not only for Spanish, but for journalism too.”
She has a career technical education certification in arts, audio, and video technology of communication/journalism and of the Spanish language.
Baldo was a reporter, editor, and producer in Latin America. She covered events for magazines, newspapers, radiocasts, and television broadcasts.
As an international correspondent for a Brazilian newspaper, Baldo came to the United States to cover the 9/11 aftermath.
She said, “After having kids, it’s hard to stay in journalism, and it was always my passion to teach. It was always my dream to teach here because WJPS is known for their excellence in teaching and learning.”
Baldo focuses on transmitting a love for journalism, writing, and reading to students, while empowering them with analytical and critical thinking about the most significant world events, shaping history and societies.
