This year, WJPS welcomes Ms. Joanna Korisianos, the new secretary. You can find Ms. Joanna in the main office any time during school after 10:00 a.m.

Ms. Joanna works as a school aid and office secretary, monitoring the bathrooms and hallways, and assisting in secretarial work. She enjoys helping students, and especially guiding them. 

Before coming to work at WJPS, Ms. Joanna was a stay-at-home mom, raising her two children. Previously, she worked for a finance company alongside traders at the trade desk. 

Ms. Joanna said, “I mostly work in the main office where I can use my operational skills I know from my previous job. Being in an environment where I’m able to help and guide students is more rewarding to me, especially after having kids.”

Ms. Joanna feels that after raising her children, working in an environment with kids is a role more fitting for her. 

She said, “I like it here at WJPS a lot. Even though it’s a big building, it’s a small school and it’s a very welcoming atmosphere where everybody seems to know each other, which I really appreciate.” 

One message Ms. Joanna has for students is that academics are very important and rewarding in the future, and to try hard in every class to make it count.
