Online Academic Resources

Online+Academic+Resources

Online/digital academic resources have been used in the classroom since before remote learning due to COVID. These resources included websites such as Khan Academy,code.org, and Naviance.

Khan Academy has courses in most subjects (algebra, calculus, biology, physics, chemistry, history) for all kindergarten through 12th and college.

Like its name,code.org teaches code.  At WJPS, code.org is used as a part of the AP Computer Science curriculum.  WJPS math and AP computer science teacher Mr. Lai said, “they [code.org] provide an entire curriculum for the AP CSP course. It’s not just the online platform.”

Naviance is a resource used to help students prepare for college.  Students can create a resume that lists things like volunteer work, job experience, extracurricular activities, and a list of colleges they are interested in.

“I want to use it [Naviance] for middle school. There are a lot of things that were useful, setting up for college applications, teacher recommendations,” said WJPS teacher Ms. Mills

Additionally, Google Classroom is another resource.  At WJPS, Google Classroom was commonly used before the coronavirus pandemic.  WJPS senior Naomi Long said, “It’s an easy and convenient way to get my work done at any given time and place.”

WJPS English teacher Ms. Marks said, “I use these [PearDeck, Edpuzzle, CommonLit, vocab.com, Flipgrid] often as they enhance my ability to gauge student knowledge, see the progression of understanding, and with PearDeck, see their answers and give feedback in real-time.”
