What is Senioritis?

With the senior year in the second half for the World Journalism Preparatory School class of 2020, many seniors have reported symptoms consistent with the notorious “senioritis.”

Senioritis is the fictitious condition which supposedly affects thousands of students in their final year of high school or college, in which they experience a decline in motivation, performance, and a general blithe attitude.

With senior year quickly coming to an end, college acceptances are rolling in for many, and with warmer weather quickly approaching, some seniors have lost interest in their classes.

Cristina Juarez, a senior at World Journalism Preparatory School self-proclaimed , “I, Cristina Juarez have the worst case of senioritis at WJPS.”

When asked to define what senioritis means to her, she stated, “Senioritis is when students in their last year of high school don’t care about school anymore. I don’t stress as much if I get a bad grade on a test, especially in my math classes, which I used to care about a lot. I just can’t wait to graduate.”

“I don’t believe in senioritis. It’s an excuse for seniors to barely try in their classes and skip school. It’s honestly kind of ridiculous,” said WJPS senior Jenny Amaya.
