Animal Crossing is a Social Simulation, a video game that simulates semi-realistic social events, exchanges, and relationships. Social Simulators usually involve some form of role-playing, as this form of entertainment often relies on having its players want to be immersed in the world, and want to be involved with the characters.

Animal Crossing’s signature, with the exception of the player and his/her friends, is that all of the characters are animals. Each animal has its own name, personality traits and characteristics, and even jobs.

“You can just do your own thing in the game,” junior Christopher Stena said.

One of Animal Crossing’s core aspects is that, in essence, there is no objective. The player quite simply arrives at his/her destination by train, taxi, or bus, and begins life in this town full of animals.

“It’s pretty adventurous,” freshman Kevin Santos said.

Players can fish, go hunting for seashells, relax on the beach, talk to their animal neighbors, garden, as well as many other things.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Nintendo’s most recent Animal Crossing title, received a 9.6/10.00 from IGN.

  1. Animal Crossing is actually much more intense. You get to run the town! The villagers leave you! You get stung by bees! You work up millions of bells (the currency) in debt. You should probably include details like that in your articles.

  2. Nice article on the game, do you play it? One of my favorite parts is getting fish and fossils for the museum and then checking them out. But sometimes I see some irony because once I was fishing at night and I caught a sun fish. But the game is really good.
