Students throughout the school are reading a variety of things for fun. Teens read the books for many different reasons. Students are always required to carry an independent reading book with them so having an interesting book is always the goal.

Although some students don’t find a joy in reading, others do find reading a fun and enjoyable hobby. Students like to read other books, rather the ones their teacher is assigning to them. They like to read books that relate to them or interest them.

Books students read are a variety of genres, from mystery to romance. Some students read popular books that turn into movies, such as 50 Shades of Grey or the Great Gatsby.

“I’m reading Beezus and Ramona and I have been for a while,” 6th grader Anahid Gasparyan said.

“I’m reading The Land of Stories because me and my friends are reading the series,” 6th grader  Tonya Devito said.

“I’m reading Just Listen because I like reading Sarah Dessen novels,“ 7th grader Christina Castro said.

“I am reading The Giver because I heard people talking about [it],” 7th grader Amelia Baffo said.

“I’m reading Omnivore’s Dilemma because of Mrs. Devine,“ 8th grader Carmela Digioia said.

“I’m reading The Fault in our Stars because I read it before and its my favorite book,” 8th grader Georgia Savva said.

‘I’m reading The Dead Tossed Waves,” freshman Gabriella Cachia said.

“I am reading Bastard out of Carolina because it was suggested to me and I have an interest in that genre [drama],” sophomore Christina Aurigemma said.

“I’m reading Animal Farm,” sophomore Melissa Chen said.

“I am reading 50 Shades of Grey because I saw the movie but I heard the book was better,” junior Angelica Darmetta said.

“I’m reading The Alchemist because I heard it was a good book,” junior Kailia Pulley said.

“I’m reading the Great Gatsby because I’m interested in his [Gatsby’s] lifestyle and I plan to be like him,” senior Renato Barchi said.

“I’m currently reading Of Mice and Men because it has good life lessons in it,” senior Mohammad Raja said.
