Laughing people could be heard throughout The Players Theatre as the small auditorium shook with amused responses and applause from its audience members as the internationally renowned Tziporela took the stage.

Starting on October 14th, Tziporela Theatre Company is putting on their comedy act “Odd Birdz” at The Players Theatre on the west side. The award winning Israeli theatre troupe is making their American premiere with “Odd Birdz” which combines movement, music, and performing to create “outrageous comedy”.

Although this comedy is authentically Israeli, its societal remarks can engage any audience member whether they are an English or Hebrew speaker.

“It was really unexpected and…unique, I’ve never seen a show like it… I thought it was hilarious and inspiring at the same time,” audience member Michael Bejarano said.

Not only does Tziporela “[do] it all and with a great amount of talent”, all of their acts specifically comment on love, life, and culture through every act they preform.

One act, titled “Four Women”, displays the effect of modern times on four different women, who all go through love, jealousy, pompousness, devotion, and a “selfie phase” (as most women do). It is all done within a speechless four minutes where only miming and sounds are used to display the scene.

“I really liked its performance, not just because it was funny but because of its message about love…I think they were trying to say that…each love is unique…and if you love someone you fight for those imperfections that they showed throughout the performance,” audience member Michal Antonov said.

With only 40 performances in total at the Players Theatre, time is quickly running out to witness this comedic genius. November 19th will be their last acts with two shows at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Tickets go for about 30 dollars and vary depending on seating arrangement. More information on Tziporela and their satire on modern culture can be found by clicking the links and by asking; “How will it affect you?”
