Normal People by Sally Rooney is a novel that was published in 2018, but has managed to stay popular since then. It is a riveting story that uses new writing techniques.

The novel is set in Ireland and follows the relationship between the two inseparable main characters Marianne Sheridan and Connell Waldron throughout high school and college. 

The two characters meet in Marianne’s home where Connell’s mother works as a maid. They find out that they share a lot in common and form an intoxicating relationship full of lies, memories, and feelings.

This novel is enjoyable because Rooney deals with very heavy topics in a tasteful way which makes her writing style stand out. She doesn’t use quotation marks or chapters to separate her writing because Rooney wants to create a special bond or relationship between the reader and the author.

This novel receives a ranking of 4/5 pages. It’s easy to love Rooney’s style of writing and the way she writes the characters gives them real personalities. 

This is a highly recommended book if you want to get into reading, but don’t want to read a long or complicated novel. It is the perfect starter novel.
