Should the Drinking Age of 21 Be Lowered?

Should the Drinking Age of 21 Be Lowered?

Nationally, there is a drinking age for all states that is expected to be followed. Does this law work though?

Even though the drinking age is 21 years old, this doesn’t stop many people from breaking the rules.

Many people find numerous ways to go behind the law and drink whenever they want to. This could be very dangerous, especially when you’re intoxicated and drive.

Other people around the ages of 17 or 18 would like to have a beer once in a while with their family and not get carried away. These people are the ones who are mature.

The drinking age I believe should be lowered to at least 18 years of age. People are finding ways either way to drink, so having to wait until 21 won’t necessarily change anything and is far too long.

“I think the drinking age should be 18 because that’s when you’re allowed to vote and get more privileges so that should be one of them and people disobey the drinking age law already,” said WJPS junior Maria Arniotis

“Yes, I think the drinking age should be 21 because I work with a lot of kids who are almost 18 and I still don’t think they are ready to be drinking yet and it could get dangerous,” said WJPS teacher Ms. Bonanni.
