Player Profile: Rocco Rolleri

By: Chris Ellis, Sports Writer

WJPS student and athlete Rocco Rolleri is a baseball player who plays for Francis Lewis High School. He has been playing the sport for four years. He plays primarily left field, but otherwise right and center field.

The practice process is mostly swinging in the batting cage, guessing the pitch and catching the flyball and possibly robbing  home run.

“If I compared myself to anybody in the major leagues it would be Kevin Pillar,” said Rolleri.  Kevin Pillar is currently a centerfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. “ As a player comparison to someone in Major league Baseball, I once remember that I hit a inside the park home run in a game and it was good.” said Rolleri.

“I was born into the sport. I played T-ball before and it was fun, so I stuck with it.” said Rolleri. It’s the passion he’s had since the beginning of his career.
