The world’s fastest computer, created by the ever powerful Chinese nation, recently beat the previous fastest computer, the Cray-Made Titan, located in Tennessee. Wouldn’t you love to have and use a quantum speed computer, where you don’t have to witness any more performance issues? Photo from public domain.

China defeats the previous fastest computer, the Cray-Made Titan, located in Tennessee.

China’s National University of Defense Technology was able to outrun the previous supercomputer 27 petaflops (Floating-point Operations per Second) at 33.86 petaflops(33.8615). This computer is now the current fastest computer as of October 2014.

“Of course they have the fastest computer. They make everything,” junior Daniel Kricheli said.

The results were announced at the International Supercomputing Conference in Leipzig, Germany. This new supercomputer includes three Intel Xeon Phei processors that hold 3,120,000 cores (Individual central processing units).

According to MIT Technology Review  and NASA’s Quantum AI Lab, search giant Google is working with NASA on developing a new quantum computer and build one of the fastest error-free systems in the world. They will be developing a different computer system than our normal daily computers.

According to Q.U.A.I.L. (Quantum Artificial Intelligence Laboratory) Quantum computing is based on a new type of computer memory value called quantum bits or short qubits. Unlike traditional computers, in which bits (unit of data) must have a value of either zero or one, a qubit can represent a zero, a one, or both values simultaneously. Representing information in qubits allows the information to be processed faster and reduce errors.

Better and faster computers mean that students in the future don’t have to worry about performance issues. Anyone can get work done with no problems at school and at home. Students will be able to get work done faster and more efficiently than before.
