Middle School Volleyball

WJPS recently held middle school tryouts for girls volleyball. Tryouts were held before school in the gym. This is the first year WJPS started a volleyball team.

Three tryouts were held to decide who will be on the team. Over 75 middle school students tried out to be on the team, but only 22 students were selected.

The team will have seven games this season and will be competing against other schools in the district. The team is run by Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Lavardera.

Practices are held at WJPS downstairs in the gym on Wednesdays after school and Fridays mornings before school begins.

WJPS paraprofessional Ms. Lavardera said, “I’m really excited to have volleyball come to WJPS. I love kids so it’ll be great. It’s the first time District 25 is having something like this so I can’t wait.”

WJPS paraprofessional Ms. McLaughlin said, “I think it’s a great way to offer student clubs and activities in school. It’s a new league for District 25 so each game will be different, we might even have some co-ed games.”
