Wonka: Origins

The new fantasy musical film Wonka is in theaters. It is inspired by Roald Dahl’s novel, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The movie was released on December 15th. 

Starring in the movie as Willy Wonka is Timothee Chalamet. Chalamet is known for his roles in the Dune Franchise. Alongside him are Hugh Grant and Rowan Atkinson.

Chalamet is the third Willy Wonka after Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in 2005.

The premise of the movie is about Willy Wonka during his early years and his life before his appearance in the novel. 

The premiere was held on November 28th in London. 

WJPS teacher Mrs. Mills said, “I’m excited to see the new adaptation and all the changes they made to this iconic character. I really wanna see how the new generation will react to this new ssn portrayal of Willy wonka.”

WJPS 11th grader, Haylie Soto said, “I liked the Willy Wonka movies growing up. I also liked the book when I was little. From what I’ve seen in the trailer it looks fun and creative.”
