Jeans in School

By: Sophia Buccello, Opinion Reporter

At World Journalism Preparatory School, no student is allowed to wear jeans. In addition, they are also not permitted to wear jean shorts.

It is understandable that the school does not allow jeans that are ripped, as they are unprofessional for a school environment. However, regular blue jeans could be worn almost anywhere, so there is no reason to ban them in school.

Some students do not feel comfortable wearing anything other than jeans, and many girls do not feel comfortable wearing leggings as they do not flatter all body types.

When asked if students should wear jeans in school, WJPS senior, Sophia Turner said, “Yes because you should be able to wear whatever you want as long as it is not explicit.”

WJPS senior, Ethan Rivera said, “Yes, because we should be able to wear whatever we are comfortable with.”

WJPS should reconsider its no jeans policy as it would not harm anyone, and may make students feel more comfortable.
