Digital v.s. Paper Learning

Digital+v.s.+Paper+Learning

Throughout the last couple of years, it seems like the younger generation can’t escape the constant screen use mainly because of social media.

However, the Department of Education has promoted the idea of digital learning since the height of COVID. Do students actually perform better working digitally rather than on paper?

Considering the effects of COVID, do students gain a better understanding of the material taught through online submissions rather than on paper work?

Some students argue that paper learning seems to be more effective to most, as it may appear that students taught on paper better recall and absorb information being taught rather than just being given a digital document.

WJPS junior, Jacob Geraghty stated, “I like learning digitally because I believe it helps the environment and because it’s easier to keep track of your work when you’re missing things.”

On the other hand, Students are drawn in by screens way more than they would paper, inferring that students might focus more on something they are interested in working with.

WJPS sophomore, Russell Nazamy stated, “I’d rather work online. I feel like it makes learning something more fun and easier.”

Submitting assignments through Google Classroom isn’t as bad as it may seem. Digital learning increases a students’ extent of interaction, engagement level and the amount of resources available for an assignment.
