Seniors to Ghana

Seniors+to+Ghana

WJPS will be traveling abroad to Ghana, Africa from February 27th to March 7th, 2023. Three seniors, Carl Levy Guerrier, Skyy Williams, and Sonya Woodham, have been awarded a study abroad scholarship where they will learn more about Africa by participating in experiential events and familiarizing themselves with African culture.

“I think this trip is going to be a really great opportunity because we will be exploring another country other than the one we live in. We’re mainly going to see a lot of historical and cultural sites from both the past and the present, and we will also be working on a community project that benefits one of the schools there,” commented WJPS senior Sonya Woodham.

“I think studying abroad is an extremely life-changing experience for a young adolescent because the exposure at such a young age to various cultures gives you a different viewpoint on the world. I’m really looking forward to seeing all the different landmarks and everything that relates to the history of Africa,” stated WJPS senior Skyy Williams.

“I’m very excited and glad to have this privilege, along with my friends, to travel abroad in Ghana. I certainly am looking forward to meeting new people and exploring their culture and ways of life. As of now, we’re meeting as a group and participating in workshops to learn new topics that will be discussed on the trip such as financial literacy and more,” said WJPS senior Carl Levy Guerrier.
