In life, you normally would go to jail for a crime you committed or if you are a possible suspect of a crime. However in recent years, the NFL has not been strict when it comes to players commiting the crime of domestic violence and abuse of woman or child.

The NFL has been doing an awful job when handing out suspensions for a crime. Ray Rice was suspended for two games for beating up his fiancee and dragging her into a elevator while unconscious. A two game suspension is not enough discipline for such a crime, especially when the league saw the video of Rice doing it.

Tom Brady was handed a four game suspension for possibly being the suspect of the Deflategate scandal. Brady should not have been suspended for those four games since there is no evidence showing that he deflated the footballs.

Plaxico Burress accidently shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub, and was only suspended for four games for his misconduct. However, a courtroom judge sentenced him to two years in prison. The courtroom judge’s punishment was a lot more fitting than what Roger Goodell handed the Super Bowl Champion.

The NFL needs to step up with their punishments. Recently, the Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, had his name was resurfaced when a video was released between him and his fiancee. The video showed Hill threatening his wife, saying she should be afraid of him and mentioning breaking his three year old son’s arm. The Chiefs did the right thing by suspending Hill from the team, but Roger Goodell has done nothing about it. If anything, Goodell should suspend Hill for life after the surfacing of this video.
