Tis the season to be jolly and for more than one reason for students. Besides celebrating religious holidays during December, NYC public school students have winter break from December 24th to January 4th. Students go back to school on Monday, January 5th.
“During the break, I’m going to Florida to enjoy Disney World,” seventh grader Jake Liebman said.
Many students take this time to catch up on much needed sleep or homework that is assigned over break. This almost two week vacation is a great way to spend time with family, go on vacation abroad, or relax before school starts again.
“I’m going to study for the regents and hang out with my friends,” freshman Aishah Jaberi said.
In January 2015, there will be no school on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 19th) or during Regents Week. Regents week is for High Schoolers only, starting on January 26th and ending February 2nd. Middle school is to report to class during this week.
