On December 20th the second installment in the Jumanji franchise, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, was released in theaters.

The first movie, Jumanji, was released in 1995 and starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, and Kirsten Dunst. It was a difficult movie to follow but after all these years writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers seem to have developed a story-line that could compare to the original.

“I love Jack Black. He’s “my dad” but the original will always have a special quality to it that you can’t recreate.” Leni Bochow, 10th grade said. As much as this student loved the new movie she thought that the original movie will always be better.

I had high expectations for this twist on the original film and after watching it I wasn’t disappointed at all. I think that this was a nice twist on the original film and it appealed more to a younger audience.

“I would recommend this movie but it depends on the person but it has humor and adventure.” Azariah Roberts, 7th grade said. This younger generation of students did believe that it was a little inappropriate at times but that is why there is an age restriction.

In this new installment, some of your favorite actors, like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black, helped to create an entertaining and amusing movie that honored Robin Williams’ great performance in the 1995 Jumanji.
