Author of the book Sleepers, Lorenzo Carcaterra, stopped by to talk to juniors and seniors about his book and the memories he has from the accounts he faced. He visited on Thursday, May 26th.

“At first, it was my friend’s story, a story about my friends. The more we thought about it, there was a bigger picture. The bigger picture of what we went through and how easy it is to get into that,” author Lorenzo Carcaterra said.

Students and teachers share their feelings about his visit.

Sleepers was chosen for this year’s curriculum because it highlights coming of age and decision making and learning your consequences based on your actions. There are different themes that each student can relate to,” teacher Ms. Post said.

Carcaterra also read an excerpt from his book. Students show their reactions.

“I think it was a good experience for everyone. I feel like him explaining the book and his life really made me understand the book even more and I feel like when he read the one section of the book it made it come to life and we should have more opportunities for authors to come to school,” junior Briana Pistone said.
