It was the deadliest attack in Pakistan since the massacre of almost 150 children in December 2014. At least 70 people were killed in the explosion in Lahore, Pakistan, while leaving hundreds of people injured.

“The Pakistan bombing is something that we should look into and acknowledge it as much as we acknowledge every other bombing,” senior Christian Olivio said.

On March 27th, an explosion went off in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park. The attack was targeted towards Christians, but most of the people killed were Muslims. A couple of hours later, the bombing was claimed by the Taliban.

Right after the bombing, civilians rushed to the hospitals around the area to donate blood for the injured. On March 28th, the city shut down all public parks, shopping centers, the Lahore Zoo and also canceled The Lahore spring festival to mourn.

Since the bombing, Pakistani rangers and soldiers have been working on arresting suspects. The Taliban’s spokesman, Ehsanullah Ehsan, issued a statement to the Pakistani Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, saying “We want to send this message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that we have entered Lahore.”

“It’s sad to see that even on a day like Easter, there’s things like this happening and innocent people are dying,” senior Laura Zabala said.
