After winter break students came back celebrating the first spirit week of the new year.

“It [spirit week] was fun. It gave kids a way to express themselves and show their spirit,” junior Maxwell Smith said.

Monday was pajama day.

Tuesday was throwback Tuesday where students could wear clothing from any decade.

Wednesday was teacher appreciation week where students are able to dress up as their favorite teacher.

Thursday was New York Stories day where students had to wear New York Sports Teams Jerseys.

Friday was character day where students can dress up as a favorite character.

During spirit week there was a pep rally where teams/clubs made their debut to the whole school. Clubs such as the glee club, spirit team and step team performed. Ending the pep rally with a performance dedicated to the graduating class of 2016 was Mr Petrotta who sang “Go the Distance” from Hercules  while senior Aly Malave danced.

“We had a big success! A lot of people participated and I was shocked about the turnout on how well it went. Not a lot of kids went against the dress code so that was pretty impressive. A lot of kids showed their school spirit,” junior Adriana Loh said.
