Spirit Club wanted to create a competitive cheerleading team but, considering the turnout for tryouts, it is most likely not happening. The actual spirit team will continue on however.

“I joined the spirit club because my mom was a cheerleader and I wanted to be like my mom,” spirit club member seventh grader Layla Rodriguez said.

Spirit Club currently has twenty three members. They meet every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:00. They will start performing at the home basketball games. They will not be performing at the away basketball games.

“It’s good and bad. But I think it’s more good than bad because you are supporting the basketball team. When we score, it sometimes feels silent but the spirit club will have a lot of energy which would help,” seventh grade basketball player Amir Moree said.

As of right now, there only girls in the spirit club but boys are welcome to join.

“I would join the spirit club because I want to express myself and spread school spirit,”  senior Randy Charter said.
